Searching for a great senior photographer?

We specialize in photographing seniors! Although most are instructed to go to a "school photographer" that has set up a deal with that school to be their portrait provider, they don't have to have their whole session with that individual! They just need to do what's required for the yearbook. Seniors who want a more personalized portrait experience come to us.

Gittings photographer Rick Bettinger puts it this way: "A successful senior portrait session blends the desires of the parents and the senior and exceeds both of their expectations." knowledge of and interest in teenagers is also important. "The high school senior today is much more educated and savvy about what they want. As a senior photographer, you need to be up on the latest trends in fashion as well as trends in photography."

Photographer Rob Wythe agrees that wardrobe choices are an important factor. "Most kids don't want the old-fashioned 'I'm a cheerleader so let's do it in my outfit' shot or a portrait of an athlete in his jersey," he says. "I concentrate more on their attitude and maybe their true personal interests, such as their favorite pet or next to their first car or in a favorite spot. Also, most want portraits that are more 'magazine' looking, so we steer away from big smiles and stiff poses. When it comes to clothing, I tell them to wear what they're comfortable in but to stay away from busy patterns.  I don't tell them to stay away from current styles, as I would for a family portrait, because I think it's important to be able to look back at your senior images and remember what styles were" in" when you were in school...no matter how terrifying they may seem 10 years later!"
