Gittings photographs R&B legend Linsey Alexander

Among the celebrities that Gittings has photographed over the years are many well-known musicians—ZZ Top, Bret Michaels, Kelly Pickler, and Linda Eder, to name just a few. After Gittings photographer Barry Benton saw R&B guitarist Linsey Alexander perform at Buddy Guy's Legends club in Chicago, they chatted and Barry told Alexander that he’d like to photograph him the next time he was in town. Alexander agreed.
“I enjoy music and thought it would be interesting to photograph a Chicago blues legend,” said Barry. “Linsey was very agreeable, patient and good-natured about the session.”
This environmental portrait was taken at Kingston Mines, a well-known blues venue. The Gibson guitar, leather cap, and glittering jewelry—even Alexander's five-o'clock shadow and straightforward gaze—work together to deliver in a moment the essence of this celebrated musician.
